In a previous life I had six shops in the market towns around Cambridge for thirty years, selling a wide range of gifts and ladies clothing. I sold them in the early 2000s and concentrated on another passion of mine - interior design and developments. This I still love doing.
When my eldest son returned home with his family, after 19 years in Hong Kong, I suggested to Lise, my Danish daughter in law, that it may be fun to start shops again. Within a very short while we had opened Stocks in Henley on Thames and then Marlow together and I had opened Stocks at the Vine in Stockbridge on my own. Three amazing Georgian (and earlier) towns by very famous rivers!
Our joint ethics were based very much on offering ranges of the highest quality and design we could offer at sensible prices. Added to this was a passion to try to benefit others less fortunate and their communities by giving their products a ‘window’ in Stocks. You will see this developing throughout our increasing Fair Trade product ranges.
My Stocks family is also very important to me too, as I could quite simply not do what I do without their amazing support and am forever grateful and aware of this.
I am very blessed with five incredible grand-children that are quite simply the centre of my universe. We have such fun and I collect their little notes, their cards and latterly essays and university personal statements that I have to read six times before I understand them! They are quite simply my ‘Treasures’ and will be forever.
I welcome you so warmly to browse through our site and am so grateful if you decide to purchase and support our small family business. Times are changing and so many are returning to shopping locally where they feel they can support local businesses and receive in turn, the best and kindest service and beautiful and carefully selected products that are not necessarily grouped together elsewhere. I feel small businesses are the heartbeat of our precious little towns - help us to keep this tradition going and we in turn will try our hardest to not disappoint.
Take care and my love
